The Paterson Arts Council (PAC) is proud to present the third annual Paterson Art Walk, a one-day collaborative exhibition of over two hundred local, regional and international artists and curators. The artist’s works will transform the landscape at the heart of historic industrial and commercial Paterson into a temporary ramble through an itinerary of unique and layered sites reshaped and recreated by works of art. The Art Walk's focus is to provide a novel opportunity for everyone to experience the energy of site-specific and other temporary art installations within the newly-designated Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park, a 18th to 20th-century industrial district planned around the Great Falls, and the adjacent nationally listed Downtown Commercial Historic District. This year’s Art Walk is expanded to include more participating sites in the city’s commercial center, walking distance from the Great Falls, many of which feature an inside look at Paterson’s finest early twentieth-century architecture, as well as other remote Paterson sites that have recently been transformed by artists as work and exhibition space. The diversity of the artists and their mediums includes visual and performing arts, music, fine art, poetry, sculptural works, site specific installations, creating synergy with a variety of venues, such as fast-food restaurants, vacant industrial mills, theatres, 1900s Beaux Arts commercial buildings and Paterson’s new downtown mall space, Center City. The Art Walk opens at 10am, Saturday, June 11, rain or shine and closes at 10pm the same day. Walking maps are available at each of the locations and at our website, patersonartscouncil.org, as well as in advance at the Paterson Museum, Great Falls Cultural Center, Paterson Library and City Hall. Please note that not all participating locations are ADA accessible. A visit to the Great Falls, the Paterson Museum, a bite to eat and downtown shopping are just blocks away from each other. Please join us for an exciting day of art and architecture, and to learn more about upcoming cultural events in Paterson! For more information or to participate, please contact us through the PAC website.
This is a FREE public event with cooperation & support by many participating public & private organizations, including the City of Paterson, Center City, the Downtown Paterson SID, etc. This project is funded, in part, by the Passaic County Cultural and Heritage Council at Passaic County Community College, through a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
